If I didn't post it before...
I cannot remember if I posted this last year or not, but it needed to be posted. This is a great illustration of how to execute one of our barbell anaerobic complexes. Nice job Kasey.
Plus, it is getting close to that time of year.
Good Luck Fellas!!

How important are your goals
I came across this video, which lead me to think about our team and our training. How important are our goals. How important are they to YOU. I know nothing about this video or how it relates to HBO, but I do know that stuff like this happens, and there are people out there like this. He is so motivated to reach his goals that he is willing to do whatever it takes to reach them, no matter what the cost. Imagine yourself having to live the way he lives, imagine yourself having to do what he does to train, imagine the physical state he is in throughout the day, let alone when he trains, then imagine his state of mind. His state of mind, his desire, his motivation, to reach his goals, masks all of his struggles. Now put yourself back into your shoes and think about your training and where you want to be. We are set for success. All we need to do is realize that what we are doing is not as hard as it feels sometimes, and motivate ourselves, and each other, to give 100% all of the time...not what we might perceive to be a 100%. We had a great day in the weight room today, and I want to continue to say that every single day we train. I want to you to be able to say that after every practice, and every competition.

The most excessive alarm clock I have seen.
We have not had a problem with waking up for lifting this year, but if you are concerned about it in the future, check out this alarm clock (and the others advertised after it plays).
Touch the hot stove only once...
Disappointed in the situation. Trust is hard to earn, but easy to lose.
In general, great group, but we need to learn from our mistakes, so that we never make the same mistake twice.
Good thing is, we live, learn, and move on.

11 Myths of Warrior Training - by Martin Rooney and Bryan Krahn
Check out the above article. Even though this article is geared towards MMA, you can see how it relates to wrestling. Plus, it gives wrestlers some "props" or proper recognition.
Martin Rooney is Strength and Conditioning Coach in the private sector, who trains many MMA athletes, as well as other professional athletes. I am a fan of and agree with most of the material that he posts on the internet and writes in his books.
Take a look at this article and try to bring me some questions about your training, and why we do what we do.
Some things I took out of the article:
- peri-workout nutrition is important. (we always say eat a breakfast before you lift and take your shake post lift)
- getting stronger can help your endurance, in more than one way (we are in the same train of thought)
- circuits a rarely beneficial. (we do not perform traditional circuits, we do perform complexes towards the end of the season to peak our conditioning for Conference and NCAA's)
Let me know what you got out of this article.
Video - bad thing is he is at Iowa... :-)

Weight Room Themes
There is always a theme with the guys in the weight room, and every year is seams to change. This year the saying is "best mode". I have found another reference to the use of beast mode. No Love by Eminem ft Lil Wayne at 1:38 in the song. Just for all of you "beast mode" fanatics out there.
It may say beats mode, i dont know, but close enough.
